In 2019, the "exchange meeting of local governments of China, Japan and South Korea" will be held in Songshan city around October of the same year. The conference began in 1999 and is held in rotation in each of the three countries.

Japan's Kyodo News Agency reported that the conference aims to promote international exchanges and cooperation, and will hold group discussions, speeches and county visits in the four-day agenda. A maximum of about 500 people are expected to attend, including local head level officials.
